During the war and post-war years, the philosopher Marcel Jouandeau worked on a series of books about domestic animals - chickens, dogs, cats, ducks, pigeons and turtles. He wrote about them as disguised people who have the same virtues, but are deprived of many human shortcomings.
For me there is no more exciting mystery than the relationship between people and animals: mutual love and understanding, and at the same time at the same time - the impossibility of crossing the boundaries of differences erected between them by inexorable nature.
Animals are capable of experiencing remorse, which means they possess it, although it is generally accepted that it is inherent only in humans. Perhaps there are no human characteristics that animals do not share to one degree or another - at least in extreme circumstances, when the individual properties of nature are most manifested.
