In his confession “On My Fall” (1939), Marcel Jouando reflected on love, which society considers reprehensible. At the time he called himself a “sinner,” but soon his view of what brings pleasure changed. “For me there is often no difference between people and trees. I treat only those that sway above my Desire more tenderly than the fruits hanging from the branches.”
