For the first time, a complete edition of the letters of Prosper Merimee (1803-1870) to his friend Jenny Daquin (1811-1895) was published in French in November 1873. The book, including 333 letters from Merimee, was compiled by his “stranger”; the autographs of the letters have not survived.
