2011 marked the 20th anniversary of Russia, which emerged after the collapse of the USSR. The peaceful rejection of the totalitarian system was a historic achievement on a global scale. Then the will of society for change, for building a new life based on respect for people, democratic principles, and a free competitive economy was obvious. Today we understand that this potential has never been realized. The hopes did not come true. The Russian political regime, which emerged after 1991 and took shape in the last decade, has not created a modern state.
