The development of modern life makes conservatism relevant as a style of political thinking and action. The author analyzes such areas of public life as geopolitics and globalization, family and demography, democracy and civil society and many others, and shows that developments in each of them are alarming and encourage conservative reflection. It also demonstrates how liberal and socialist ideologies use the language and practice of political correctness to destroy the traditional values of the Western and Russian world. At the same time, the author does not believe in the possibility of a “positive” conservative alternative. Politically, conservatism is only capable of “warning” and thereby “restraining” society from rash and fatal steps.
