The volume includes the first translations into Russian of two Zoroastrian texts, the most significant works of Pahlavi literature - “The Judgments of the Spirit of Reason” (Dadestan-i Menog-i Hrad) and “The Creation of the Foundation” (Bundahishn). They outline the basic principles of Zoroastrianism, Zoroastrian ideas about the world and its creation, as well as cosmogonic, cosmological, eschatological and other Avestan myths and legends. The second work, Bundahishn, is a Pahlavi translation of one of the unfinished books of the Avesta. Descriptions of some Zoroastrian rites and rituals are contained in several small texts also included in the publication.
