This course is designed to familiarize humanities students with the initial fundamentals of theological knowledge, the teaching of which is a new reality in the Russian higher education system. The main content of the course consists of lectures devoted to the logical and historical meaning of “theology”, clarification of the difference between theology and religious studies, philosophy of religion and religious philosophy, the formation of its modern disciplinary structure and its components in the form of propaedeutic disciplines (Christian apologetics, biblical and pathological textual criticism), system-forming (dogmatic, moral (theotetics), liturgical, canonical theology, hermeneutics of Holy Scripture and Tradition) and basic applied theological discourses. The educational manual also includes a list of texts for seminar classes, exam questions and basic literature.
