Young Kiki fell in love with her new town of Koriko almost as much as she loved the town of her childhood. After all, there are so many interesting things happening here! Although, the older Kiki gets, the more difficult tasks she faces. And believe me, delivering a sick hippo to a neighboring town or finding a traveler lost on one of the thousands of islands in a distant sea is not the most difficult thing! Kiki tries very hard and takes on the most difficult assignments, and soon people begin to think that the witch can do anything! And although this is not entirely true - or rather, not at all - Kiki decides to master a new witchcraft. Eiko Kadono wrote her first Kiki stories in 1985. Inspired by the success and numerous literary awards in Japan, she continued the story of the young witch - to the delight of fans, among whom was the great Hayao Miyazaki, who created his 1989 animated masterpiece based on Kadono’s books. And in 2014, a full-length feature film was released. In 2018, Eiko Kadono received the Hans Christian Andersen Award for best children's writer.
