The young witch Kiki turned thirteen, which means it’s time to start an independent life. Choose a city where there are no other witches, find a job you like, and learn to cope with difficulties. And a thirteen-year-old girl has a lot of difficulties, even if she were not a witch. Finally, on a clear full moon night, Kiki flies off to a new life. She decides to start it in the large seaside town of Koriko, where witches are barely heard of. And now she needs to get settled and earn a living with some witch craft, of which Kiki has perfectly mastered only flying on a broom and chatting with her black cat Jiji. But the solution comes quite quickly - after all, people always need an efficient delivery service! And Kiki gets down to business. Eikonal Kadono wrote her first Kiki stories in 1985. Inspired by the success and numerous literary awards in Japan, she continued the story of the young witch - to the delight of fans, among whom was the great Hayao Miyazaki, who created his 1989 animated masterpiece based on Kadono’s books. And in 2014, a full-length feature film was released.
