"History of Scotland" by Walter Scott, written by him in 1827-1832. - reading is no less exciting than his famous historical novels, which we all read in childhood. Dedicating his work primarily to his grandson, the writer, as he admitted, hoped to write in such a way that “it would be understandable to a child and interesting to an adult,” and sought to “unravel the mystery of the life of a distant era.”
