This summer, the Jean brothers, already familiar to us from other books in the “Adventures of a Family from Cherbourg” series, go on vacation to the sea, to the Scarlet Rocks hotel. The program includes: a secret expedition around the hotel during quiet time, a unique performance by the Pipolo circus, and, of course, the famous Tour de France cycling race, which the Jean brothers will finally see with their own eyes. Dangerous adventures, wild laughter and pillow fights - the holidays promise to be unforgettable, especially for parents... The author of this book, Frenchman Jean-Philippe Arroux-Vigneault, is one of the same six Jean brothers who will be discussed. Or more precisely, Jean B., the second oldest. Since childhood, Arrou-Vigneault loved to read. In 1984, he published his first “adult” novel, for which he received the “Best Debut” award, and a few years later he published his second book, a children’s book. Today Arrou-Vigneault, the author of about thirty books, heads the children's literature department at the largest independent French publishing house, Gallimard. He created his series “The Adventures of the Family from Cherbourg,” so beloved by children and parents in France, together with the famous illustrator Dominique Corbason, whose works can be seen on the pages of magazines such as Cosmopolitan, Madame Figaro and Vanity Fair. In spirit, “The Adventures of the Family from Cherbourg” are reminiscent of the famous “Little Nicolas” by Rene Goscinny and Jean-Jacques Sampe: the heroes of “The Family” are the same cheerful, restless boys who strive to do something.
