Are you already familiar with the Jean brothers from the previous books in the “Adventures of a Family from Cherbourg” series? Then you know for sure: when there are six sons in a family, you can forget about peace and tranquility forever. Especially if two of them also suddenly became teenagers. The elder Jean A. wants to be the idol of the youth, and now the whole family is threatened by the invasion of “a terrible and dangerous species of the human race” - girls. Having seen enough of his brother, Jean B. vowed never to fall in love. It's better to become a sea scout! But he doesn’t yet know that a big surprise awaits him in the scout troop... In general, there is absolutely nowhere to escape adolescence. And although mom always has everything under control, and dad is a jack of all trades and a very good doctor, this time they won’t be able to save the Zhans: this year the family will have to find out what a real youth party is... The author of this book is Frenchman Jean-Philippe Arrou-Vigneault is one of the six Jean brothers who will be discussed. Or more precisely, Jean B., the second oldest. Since childhood, Arrou-Vigneault loved to read. In 1984, he published his first “adult” novel, for which he received the “Best Debut” award, and a few years later he published his second book, a children’s book. Today, Arrou-Vigneault is the author of about thirty books and heads the children's literature department at the largest independent French publishing house, Gallimard. He created his series “The Adventures of the Family from Cherbourg,” so beloved by children and parents in France, together with the famous illustrator Dominique Corbason, whose works can be seen on the pages of magazines such as Cosmopolitan, Madame Figaro and Vanity Fair. In spirit, “The Adventures of the Family from Cherbourg” are reminiscent of the famous “Little Nicolas” by Rene Goscinny and Jean-Jacques Sampe: the heroes of “The Family” are the same cheerful, restless boys who strive to do something. The KompasGid publishing house has already published four books about the Zhan brothers - “Omelet with Sugar”, “Flying Cheese”, “Goldfish Soup” and “Chocolate Holidays”. "Cherry on the Cake" (2013) is the fifth book in the series.
