Natalya Galkina’s book “The Ship and Other Stories” includes poems and essays, the largest poetic forms and the smallest prose, which Boris Nikolsky called “narratives in stories.” The poem “The Ship” creates a multifaceted literary image of St. Petersburg, a city in which dream and reality, parade squares and dead ends, palaces and old courtyard outbuildings are fused together; both “The Ship” and the poem “Okkervil” that concludes the book are undoubtedly “St. Petersburg texts.” In the collections of “stories” “Clips”, “Details”, “Fish Mistakes”, “Museum of the City of Myshkin”, “From Notebooks” there are anecdotes, realistic sketches, notes of absurdity and phantasmagoria.
