The book presents, for the first time translated into Russian, two major poetic works of the great Giovanni Boccaccio (1313-1375), created by him in his youth at the court of the Neapolitan king Robert of Anjou. In the novel “Filostrato”, behind the tragic love story of the Trojan prince Troilus and Criseis, the circumstances of the writer’s personal relationship with Maria d’Aquino, the illegitimate daughter of the king, known to the world as Fiammetta, are hidden. Largely autobiographical, the novel was a monument to the dysfunctional love of Boccaccio, who developed the psychology of the characters to the subtleties. In the famous “The Hunt of Diana” (c. 1335), Boccaccio was the first after Dante to use the terzin form; the poem gives a colorful description of the fantastic hunt of Neapolitan aristocrats. The publication is equipped with a detailed research article. For a wide range of readers interested in the literature of the European Middle Ages and the early Renaissance. The publishing layout of the book is saved in PDF A4 format.
