The Ladomir Publishing House presents a collection of selected works by the Austrian writer Gustav Meyrink (1868 - 1932).Sir John Dee of Gladhill! A famous mathematician, cosmographer, alchemist and astrologer, he was rightfully considered one of the most brilliant and paradoxical minds of the Elizabethan era. The keys to the mystery of the Great Magisgerium - such is the highest goal of the Nordic conquest undertaken by this desperate adventurer and philosopher. There, and only there, in the polar ice, where the alchemical gold of the Rosicrucians of the hidden Elsbetstein blooms, should one look for the true Greenland. This metaphysical Green Land, “the search for which only very few even then thought of, is today recognized as a fiction, a “delusion of the dark Middle Ages,” and anyone who believes in its existence will be ridiculed in the same way as Columbus in his time, who dreamed of India. However, John Dee’s voyage was incomparably more dangerous, more terrible and more exhausting, because his “New World” was located further, much further...” So, “a journey to the edge of the night,” for that legendary Ultima Thule of the Hermetic universe, to which the soul of an otherworldly navigator strives, is by no means the “edge of the world,” as the laymen believe, but the “true and reliable edge of the night” of the adherents of the royal art.. All previously published translations by V. Kryukov included in the presented collection were thoroughly edited by the translator. To date, after numerous pirated editions and poor-quality amateurish translations, this is the most serious attempt to present the work of the famous Austrian master in its true light.
