The works of the Austrian prose writer G. Meyrink became one of the first bestsellers of the twentieth century. He is one of the galaxy of writers who made the “Prague School” famous. “The Green Face” is Meyrink’s second novel after “The Golem.” It also keeps at its core an ancient legend. The place of the Golem in the “Green Face” is taken by Agasfer, or the Eternal Jew, who, according to legend, urged the Savior carrying the cross with blows, for which he was doomed to eternal wandering.
The translation was made by V. Fadeev especially for the publishing house “ ABC-classic.”
