During her lifetime, she was known primarily as an excellent translator; only one small book of her poems was published, which instantly disappeared from book shelves. Tarkovsky, “is the secret of a strong thought and an enriched word.” The lyrics of M. Petrov, full of drama, reveal a strong and gentle character. Many of her poems from the 1930s to 1970s are imbued with a heightened civic sense and sound as if they were written in our days.
