Odysseus has retired from operational work and is working on a book about the Slovak National Uprising. To study the subject in more detail, he goes to Banska Bystrica, to the museum of this uprising. There he is overtaken by an order from the leadership to contact the Hungarian friend of his general, from whom he received rather strange news. It turns out that some politicians from the Hungarian right-wing camp, on the instructions of their “curators,” planned to seize territories populated by Hungarians from Slovakia, for which weapons and trained militants are already beginning to be transferred to Slovakia. Odysseus receives an order to disrupt the brewing conflict, for which he uses a cache of explosives left by the Soviet Army in Hungary. As a result of the dam explosion, one and a half million tons of alkaline waste spill over the sparsely populated area near Veszprém, and the Hungarian government is forced, forgetting about plans to destabilize Slovakia, to save the country from an environmental disaster.
