A group of Soviet intelligence officers was deployed on the western outskirts of Warsaw, in the Kampinos Forest, in order to study the situation on the right bank of the Vistula; in particular, the intelligence officers need to know whether the Germans will defend the Polish capital or decide to retreat to the old border on the right bank of the Oder and East Prussia. Landing behind enemy lines, the scouts learn that the Home Army is preparing an uprising in Warsaw, with the aim of seizing political power. Aleksey Savushkin and his people find out the situation, report to the Center, join the detachment of the Ludowa Army in Zoliborz, then end up in Stare Miasto, the Polish capital. Then Savushkin’s group, following the order of the command, goes to the Magnushevsky bridgehead, finds out the forces of the Germans opposing the Red Army and the Polish Army, after which, returning to Warsaw, they receive an order to urgently leave for Slovakia.
