The so-called Chronicle of Priest Dukljanin is one of the oldest monuments of medieval historiography of the Slavic peoples of the western Balkans. The dating, authorship, and degree of historical authenticity of the monument remain the subject of heated scientific debate. At the same time, the Chronicle is a most valuable source on the history of the South Slavic states of the early Middle Ages. This work represents the first translation of the Chronicle from the original Latin language into Russian, accompanied by a lengthy scientific commentary.
