The novel “The Karnovsky Family” by one of the greatest Jewish prose writers of the last century, Israel-Yeshua Singer (1893–1944), captures the life of a Jewish family at the turn of the era. Representatives of three generations are trying to find themselves in a changing, alien and often cruel world, and the breaking of the usual foundations does not happen without a trace for anyone. "The Karnovsky Family" is a family chronicle, but in the masterful embodiment of Yisroel-Yeshua Singer, it is also a large-scale picture of the changes in Jewish life in the first half of the 20th century. Nobel laureate Isaac Bashevis Singer called his elder brother Yisroel Yeshua his teacher and spiritual mentor.
