"Yosheh Telok" - a novel by Yisroel Yeshua Singer (1893–1944), one of the most prominent Jewish authors of the 20th century, tells about human passions, internal struggle and confusion, and ultimately about choice. The author skillfully conveys the experiences of the characters, achieving the “effect of presence”, and tries, if not to justify, then to understand everyone. The action of the novel takes place against the background of artistic everyday life of Hasidic communities in Galicia and Russia in the second half of the 19th century.
