Marcel Aimé (1902–1967) is one of the most remarkable French writers. His works make you sad, laugh, admire and sympathize. Isn’t it a pity for the hero of his story, who knew how to overcome any obstacles and one day, getting out of his beloved’s apartment, unexpectedly lost his gift and remained walled up in the wall forever? And the Lord sent the deceased bailiff, who wished to go to heaven, to earth so that he would try to do as many good deeds as possible and earn a serene life in heaven. It's sad when a wife leaves her husband. But what if there are two at once? And there was not just one husband, but two... The plots of Marcel Aimé's stories are sometimes so phantasmagoric that you can't tell where the truth is and where the fiction is. The writer loves to joke, but his humorous stories always contain the bitterness of truth, which is no less dear to the reader than subtle irony.
