Marcel Aimé (1902–1967) was a French novelist and playwright. His prose is characterized by elements of the absurd and fantastic, combined with the realism of everyday and psychological details. The novel “The Green Mare” brought Ema worldwide fame. The narration is unfolded in two levels: partly as if from the author, and partly on behalf of the green mare who came out of the artist’s canvas, and Aimé put caustic sarcasm and bilious satire into her speech, while he himself maintained a completely imperturbable tone.
