The publication contains a translation into Russian of three 9th-century sources describing the reign of the Byzantine emperor Leo V the Armenian, who resumed iconoclasm in 815. A new translation of the passage dedicated to Leo from the Chronography of Theophanes the Confessor is given, the section on the reign of Leo from the Chronicle of George the Monk (Amartola) and one of the best sources on the history of the 9th century - a fragment from the anonymous work Scriptor incertus de Leone Armenio that has come down to us - are translated into Russian for the first time. The Introduction analyzes the translated sources and examines issues concerning their authors, and provides an overview of the reign of Leo V.
