With the blessing of the Hegumen of the Athos Russian Panteleimon Monastery of the Holy Archimandrite Jeremiah
The book was published with the participation of the International Foundation “Slavic Revival” (general director V.P. Nedelin) The Nisibin hymns, or madrashes, about the Resurrection, Death and Satan are one of the most significant creations of the great Syrian poet and mystic of the 4th century, St. Ephrem the Syrian (Mar Afrem Malfana). The hymns are full of vivid apocalyptic pictures, descriptions of hell and death, not inferior to Dante's. The book publishes for the first time a poetic translation of 7 hymns out of the 77 available.
