Reverend Ephraim the Syrian (IV century) was born in the ancient Mesopotamian city of Nisivin and, having accepted monasticism, became famous for the height of his spiritual life. During his lifetime, the works of Saint Ephraim were translated into other languages and even read in churches after the Holy Scriptures.
