The last year of the war became an agony for the Third Reich. Realizing the inevitability of punishment for all the crimes they committed, the creators of Nazi ideology tried in every possible way to delay their end. To solve this problem, “all means were good”: a total mobilization of the male population of the regions was carried out, various models of “miracle weapons” were hastily developed, and cities surrounded by the Red Army were declared fortresses. Breslau, the capital of Silesia, became a similar “citadel”. Intoxicated by German propaganda, the garrison and population defended this city for three months - from February 8 to May 6, 1945.
