The Dnieper-Carpathian strategic offensive operation is one of the largest operations of the Second World War in terms of its scope. In 116 days of intense fighting, the troops of the advancing fronts completed the defeat of the entire southern wing of the Eastern Front of Nazi Germany. The Red Army liberated the vast territory of Right Bank Ukraine. For the first time during the war, military operations began to take place outside the USSR.
