The book of the spiritual leader of the Tibetan people, the fourteenth Dalai Lama Tenzin Gyatso, is a collection of simple and at the same time deep thoughts suffered by the author in his monastic career. His Holiness asserts that everything we need in life is within ourselves; we only need to understand our own beauty and the beauty of other people, the possibilities of true happiness and peace here and now. The call for sanity and kindness, which is sorely lacking in our world, is expressed in simple, accessible words, which makes the timeliness of this call even more obvious. The Fourteenth Dalai Lama has dedicated his life to promoting compassion and mutual understanding since the takeover of Tibet in 1959 by Communist China. He pays special attention to interfaith dialogue and science. His tireless pursuit of a peaceful resolution to the conflict in his homeland earned him worldwide recognition. In 1989 he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. The Dalai Lama lives in Dharamsala, India.
