Emilio Salgari (1862–1911) is one of the masters of the adventure genre, the “Italian Jules Verne,” his novels are read by millions of people around the world. Salgari almost never left his native Italy, but the heroes of his books travel and fight on all seas and continents, at all times - from Antiquity to modern times. This edition includes the duology “Captain Tempesta” and “The Lion of Damascus”, the main character of which, the brave Duchess of Eboli, under the name of Captain Tempesta, fights in Cyprus and Crete in the protracted war of the Venetian Republic against the Ottoman Empire in the second half of the 16th century. The publication also includes the famous novel “Daughters of the Pharaohs,” which tells about the struggle for the throne of Ancient Egypt by the rightful heir against the usurper who seized power through treachery and betrayal. Two novels (“Captain Tempesta” and “Daughters of the Pharaohs”) were published in Russian only in abridged form, so they were translated again for our publication. The novel “The Lion of Damascus” is published in Russian for the first time.
