Emilio Salgari was called by his contemporaries “the Italian Jules Verne.” In his youth, while studying at a nautical school, he avidly read the novels of the French luminary of the adventure genre, and eventually followed in the footsteps of his idol, writing about two hundred novels and stories. And although the author never left the Adriatic, his romantic and noble pirates crisscrossed all the seas and oceans. Readers are especially fond of his novels from the “Pirates of the Antilles” series, which tell about the incredible adventures of the formidable corsairs who sowed fear in the Spanish colonies on the coasts of South America in the 16th–17th centuries. This edition includes the final two novels of this cycle: “Son Red Corsair" and "The Last Filibusters", in which the interests of the great powers and the brave robbers of the Coastal Brotherhood once again collide. Sea battles, the blinding colors of the southern islands, irreconcilable revenge, passion, betrayal and true love - in these novels Emilio Salgari again collected all the necessary ingredients of great adventure literature. For the first time in Russian, the works are accompanied by a complete set of illustrations by the Italian artist Alberto della Valle (1851– 1928).
