Shocked by Morgan's predatory raid and the destruction of Panama, the Spaniards declared a brutal war on the pirates and their accomplices - the buccaneers. On the islands of the Caribbean archipelago, where these main suppliers of game for ships under the black flag lived, the Spaniards killed all the wild bulls and boars, which only complicated the situation. From land hunters, buccaneers turned into desperate sea vagabonds who would cause a lot of damage to the Spanish colonies of the Gulf of Mexico and the Pacific Ocean in the second half of the 17th century.
