Translation of one of the most important treatises in the history of Eastern Christian thought, "The Triads in Defense of the Sacredly Silent", written by St. Gregory Palamas, who was already a monk at the time of writing this book, known on Mount Athos for the holiness of his life. The treatise was created in polemic with Barlaam of Calabria, against his dismissive attitude to the ancient church practice of mental prayer, against the abolition of the uncreated light , in which the Divine itself is present, is against the replacement of living communion with God by the eternal truths of the mind and nature. The "Triads" contain the doctrine of the ascetic's communion with the non-creature energies of the Creator. This teaching is called hesychasm in the sense that amidst the fullness of divine energies, active peace is affirmed. The translation was made according to the latest critical editions of the text of the Triads, provided with detailed comments and an article about the life and thoughts of St. Gregory Palamas.
The text of the book was translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence program. For the most part, the translation of the text is of very high quality, but in some cases, due to the imperfection of the technology, there may be incorrect phrase translations in the text, as well as single words and expressions may not be translated.
