The book offered to the reader opens the series “Holy Fathers of the Church and Church Writers in the Works of Orthodox Scholars.” This series was conceived as a supplement to the publication “The Complete Collection of the Works of the Fathers of the Church and Church Writers in Russian Translation” (PSTSO). The first book of the new series is dedicated to St. Gregory the Theologian and, accordingly, is an appendix to the first and second volumes of PSTSO. It included 12 works about St. Gregory the Theologian, in particular by such pre-revolutionary authors (XIX - early XX centuries) as Archimandrite Porfiry (Popov), N.I. Barsov, N. Fetisov and others. The studies highlight the personality of the great Cappadocian from different angles: they tell about the various stages of the life of St. Gregory, the reasons for being called the Theologian, about his moral and ascetic teaching, preaching, shepherding, poetic creativity, etc. The new series is of value not only for specialists in the field of theology and students of theological educational institutions, but also for all readers seeking spiritual edification.
