The second volume of the “Complete Collection of the Works of the Holy Fathers of the Church and Church Writers” consisted of poems and letters of St. Gregory the Theologian. The subject matter of the 408 poems presented here by the holy father concerns both theological dogma, Christian morality and the history of the turbulent events of church life in the 4th century, as well as the sometimes difficult personal and ecclesiastical relationships of the Nazian theologian with his contemporaries. What is especially valuable is that in his poems St. Gregory appears before us as a suffering person and reveals to us in his stanzas the world of his own experiences. A number of poems are being translated into Russian for the first time. The epistolary heritage, consisting of 244 letters that the Saint wrote to different persons, repeats the thematic diversity of his poetic heritage. Particularly important are the 101st and 102nd letters to Kledonius, which laid the foundation for the Orthodox Christology of the era of the Ecumenical Councils. For the first time, a translation of the Testament of St. is provided in Russian. Gregory the Theologian. The Appendix to this volume presents the brilliant pre-revolutionary monograph by A.V. Govorov “St. Gregory the Theologian as a Christian poet." In addition, the reader will find here an index of quotations from the Holy Scriptures, a commented subject index, a dictionary of names and concepts of ancient culture. A significant advantage of this publication, in comparison with reprinted pre-revolutionary translations of the works of this Saint, is the first time in Russia that work has been carried out to bring the traditional numbering order poems and letters in accordance with the publication of Min, as well as the generally accepted numbering of stanzas in verse.* * *With the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus' ALEXIY II. Under the general editorship of Metropolitan of Tashkent and Central Asia VLADIMIR. Project leader Professor, Doctor of Church History A. I. SIDOROV
