The novel “Pies and Beer, or the Skeleton in the Closet” is the life story of the famous English writer Edward Driffield, seen through the eyes of a young man brought up in Victorian traditions. His coming of age is woven into the story of Driffield's creative success. The writing environment, with its secrets, attracts a young man, brings his first life experience and first disappointments and allows him to understand that any creativity grows out of the life's "trash" of human destiny, but only talent is able to turn this "trash" into creation.
