The seventh volume of the Collected Works of Mark Aleksandrovich Aldanov (1886-1957) includes: the novel “Suicide” (separate edition 1958), artistically recreating the revolution carried out in Russia under the leadership of Lenin, as well as the book “Lenin” ( 1919), which is a documentary study of the leader’s personality and his worldview. This is a work that was published in 1919-1920. abroad, is presented for the first time in Russian in the current Collected Works, since the original was revealed throughout the world and mercilessly destroyed. With his characteristic restraint, Aldanov reveals the deep immorality of not only the Russian leader of the Bolsheviks, but of any revolution in general. The book provides a comparison of the Russian and French revolutions, Russian and French leaders who came to power on the wave of popular discontent.
