Aldanov wrote that he would like to give all the chapters in the book “Nonsense” by number, but highlight one, the most important one, and also give it a title. However, the chapter "Schell's Delirium" was not published. It was published after the author’s death in New Journal No. 48 in 1957. Aldanov himself managed to prepare the publication and prefaced it with a short introduction containing a mysterious wording: it had not been published before “for reasons that have now disappeared.” Andrei Chernyshev, who prepared the novel “Delirium” for publication in Russia in 1999, chose to place in the book what was discovered in archived earlier version of this chapter.
The text of the book was translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence program. For the most part, the translation of the text is of very high quality, but in some cases, due to the imperfection of the technology, there may be incorrect phrase translations in the text, as well as single words and expressions may not be translated.
