Individual short stories in this collection were first published in the books “About All Creatures - Great and Small,” 1985 (chapters 1, 3–6, 24–31, 33, 34, 36, 38–41 and 43), “On All Creatures—Beautiful and Wonderful,” 1987 (chapters 9, 10, 13, 15–22), “And All of These Are Creatures of Nature,” 1989 (chapters 44–50) and “From the Memoirs of a Country Veterinarian,” 1993 (chapters 8, 12, 23 and 35).
