Mike Engleby is an extraordinary person. Indeed, how else would a person from the “bottom” in the 1970s enter Cambridge and then make a career as a journalist? Circumstantial evidence collected by the police seems to point to Engleby, but the main character does not intend to give clues to anyone - neither the investigation nor the reader.

Книга "Енглбі" вразила мене своєю глибиною та емоційною насиченістю. Майк Енглбі, як персонаж, є складним і багатогранним, його сповідь про власне життя та кар'єру журналіста в Кембриджі змушує задуматися про те, як минуле формує наше теперішнє. Автор майстерно передає внутрішню боротьбу героя з його комплексами та спогадами, створюючи атмосферу напруги та загадки. Особливо вразила історія про його таємну закоханість у Дженніфер Аркланд, яка зникла безслідно. Цей елемент загадки робить книгу ще більш інтригуючою, адже читач постійно намагається розгадати, що ж насправді сталося. Хоча переклад тексту місцями може бути не зовсім ідеальним, це не зменшує загального враження від читання. Рекомендую цю книгу всім, хто цінує якісну прозу з елементами психологічного трилера!
