Lewis Carroll (aka Charles Lutwidge Dodgson) was very fond of logic and mathematics. In addition, he was always attracted by what lies at the extreme limits of the logical world, which allows him to look beyond the boundaries of common sense and rationality. It is possible that this is precisely why, after writing “Alice in Wonderland” - the famous book about a girl whose curiosity led her into a crazy underground world - Carroll went to travel to Russia.
