Юхан Теорін майстерно створює напружену атмосферу на холодному острові Еланд, де кожен персонаж має свою таємницю, а минуле невпинно переслідує їх. Сюжет закручується навколо Пер Мернера, який намагається знайти спокій у спадковому будинку, але його батьківські гріхи стають причиною фатальних подій. Вальпургієва ніч, коли запалюються вогнища, надає сюжету особливого магічного відчуття, а інтрига тримає в напрузі до самого фіналу. Хоча переклад не завжди ідеальний, це не заважає насолоджуватися глибокими темами про сімейні стосунки, провину і спокуту. Рекомендую цю книгу всім, хто любить якісні детективи з психологічним підтекстом!
