The training of Belarusian collaborators by the Third Reich began in the second half of the 1930s, when a Belarusian mission was created under the German Ministry of Internal Affairs. Together with the advancing units of the German army, the main figures of the Belarusian nationalist movement arrived in Belarus from exile. In the first period of the war, the activities of collaborators were reduced mainly to the work of non-political structures. Only on February 23, 1944, an order was issued to create the Belarusian Regional Defense - a military formation, which by March 1944 already had 45 battalions. The book, for the first time, using extensive archival material, outlines the history of Belarusian collaboration and tells in detail about its leaders and inspirers who actively collaborated with the German occupation authorities.
