You can take part in hostilities in different ways. You can limit yourself to sending two divisions to the front, as the Slovak government did, or gather a small number of volunteers to fight the partisans, as General Nedic did. But it was possible to subordinate all spheres of state life to military purposes. This is exactly what the government of the Independent State of Croatia did, which is rightfully considered the most odious, but also the most loyal ally of Nazi Germany in the Second World War in general and in operations in the Balkans, in particular. What were the armed forces of this small state? What is the history of the creation and use of the armed forces of NGH? What is their structure, organization, recruitment principle, command structure and population dynamics? Finally, how did they perform during combat operations? The purpose of this study is to answer these and many other questions
