Peter Hax (1928–2003) - playwright, poet, essayist, translator, historian and literary theorist, member of various academies and winner of all German literary prizes and awards, wrote fairy tales for children all his life. In one of his fairy tales, a speech is about what happens to a garden when its owners forget to mow the lawn on time. Another story tells about what happens to a country when its ruler wages a long war of conquest and forgets the way to his homeland. Adults read them to children to think together about how our still mysterious, still huge and not always beautiful world works.
