Adopting America is perhaps one of Anne Tyler's warmest novels. This is a story about what it means to be an American. Two families who would never normally meet collide at the airport—the Native American Donaldsons and the Yazdans, who are of Iranian descent. Both couples are awaiting the arrival of baby girls they adopted from Korea. The children arrive and the adults decide to celebrate their first anniversary together. From this day on, families meet, become closer, and gradually their destinies become intertwined. The novel is full of light, tenderness, and amazing observations of life. A story told from two points of view - people born and raised in the country, and people who came to it and are trying to make themselves here.

«Удочеряючи Америку» - це роман, який справді торкається серця. Енн Тайлер майстерно зображує дві абсолютно різні сім'ї, які, незважаючи на свої культурні та соціальні відмінності, знаходять спільну мову через своїх дітей. Читач має можливість поринути в їхні думки та переживання, що робить цю історію ще більш емоційною та глибокою. Тайлер вміло показує, як любов і бажання стати батьками можуть об'єднати людей, навіть якщо їхні шляхи ніколи не перетиналися раніше. Книга сповнена ніжності, тепла та мудрості, і вона змушує задуматися про те, що означає бути частиною суспільства, яке постійно змінюється. Незважаючи на деякі недоліки в перекладі, які незначно впливають на загальне сприйняття тексту, я б рекомендував цю книгу всім, хто цінує глибокі та зворушливі історії про людські стосунки.
