The name of Swami Vivekananda (1863–1902) is known to almost everyone, but in the minds of the majority he remains a kind of social figure who actively pursued policies that turned out to be successful. In reality, Swami Vivekananda was a sannyasin (monk) who achieved the experience of samadhi (self-realization) with the help of a teacher, after whose departure he spent many years wandering around his native country. The essence of his message to humanity - the message conveyed throughout his short life - is not social equality or even religious unity, but God-realization on a universal scale. The external biography of Ramana Maharshi (1879-1950) is uneventful, it could be summarized in a few pages . But as an inexhaustible source of spirituality, the Maharshi acted in the world around him as a divine “immovable prime mover,” and the story of his life is filled with amazing events that happened to those people who, by the will of fate, fell into the sphere of his all-consuming silence. It has always been this way: the Maharshi remained motionless, setting in motion the thoughts and feelings of the people around him. Accepting his life as a whole, but experiencing and rethinking it, we are only following the established tradition... For the first time, under one cover, these two books are combined in the author's series by Maria Nikolaeva in the Tradition publishing group.
