This book, written in the genre of tragic farce, became a continuation of the tetralogy begun by the novels “Lulu” and “The Road to Tahiti”, but with different main characters. Having lost his life, Semyon Vasilyevich finds himself in a strange world, where a certain triumvirate rules, and people seem to have forgotten their own names and behave like robots. Here Semyon Vasilyevich meets a famous writer, Nobel laureate, who shot himself many years ago. Local authorities entrust them with important work, and as the writers delve into this matter, they begin to understand that Backstage is, as it were, a reflection of the world they are familiar with, but is devoid of an abundance of various tinsel, behind which the vices of society, the arbitrariness of officials, and hypocrisy are usually hidden and the deceit of those in power. Many amazing events happen next, but it is completely impossible to predict where all this will lead.
