Автор майстерно створює світ, де магія та політика переплітаються, а персонажі змушені боротися не лише з зовнішніми ворогами, а й з власними страхами та упередженнями. Історія короля Сінхіла та його боротьби за справедливість у світі, де Деріні вважаються дияволами, захоплює з перших сторінок. Читач відчуває емоції героїв, їхні переживання та внутрішні конфлікти. Особливо вражає, як автор порушує важливі теми толерантності, прийняття та сили людського духу. Незважаючи на деякі недоліки в перекладі, які не заважають загальному сприйняттю, ця книга варта уваги кожного, хто любить епічні фентезі-романи з глибоким змістом.
